Hurricane PreparednessJune 1st marks the beginning of Florida’s annual hurricane season, which lasts through November. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has projected that the Atlantic hurricane season will be near-normal this year, with a high likelihood of nine to 14 named storms. As with any season, the need to prepare for the possibility of a storm striking near you is essential. Flood AssistanceThe Administration’s announcement that President Obama has issued a Major Disaster Declaration for Volusia County triggers the release of federal funds to help families and individuals recover from the severe storms and flooding that have devastated the region. The GI Bill for the 21st Century, which was passed by Congress and signed into law last year, provides a full, four-year college education to any veteran who has served since September 11, 2001.
