San Luis Obispo, CA – Today Rep. Lois Capps announced that a nearly $2.2 million grant has been awarded to the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport by the Federal Aviation Administration to design Phase I of a new terminal building. The new terminal will replace the current terminal to increase efficiency and better process an increased number of airport passengers.

“This grant is great news for the airport and the San Luis Obispo community. The airport is very important to the future of San Luis Obispo County as it contributes millions of dollars annually to our regional economy. The state-of-the-art terminal will improve efficiencies and ease congestion at the airport, and it will be vital to the business growth and quality of life of the region,” said Capps.

“We are thrilled to be receiving this grant. Our passenger activity has begun to grow again and this grant is our initial step to continue providing first class services to our traveling public many years into the future,” said Richard Howell, General Manager of the San Luis Obispo Regional Airport.
