| New White House Report Conflicts with State of the Union Energy Goals |

In a letter to the Council of Economic Advisers, Reps. Waxman, Kaptur, and Jim Davis ask why the Annual Report of the Council of Economic Advisers differs so significantly from the President’s energy goals in the State of the Union Address.
While the new report continues to press for oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, it fails to discuss hybrids, plug-in hybrids, electric cars, or fuel cells. The report also fails to explain how the President’s State of the Union goal of making ethanol from wood chips and switch grass “practical and competitive within six years” will be achieved. With regard to energy conservation, the new White House report appears to rely on a policy of “increased scarcity and rising prices.” Documents and Links |
