Confirmed, Again: Obamacare Will Cost Seniors More |

WASHINGTON, DC (October 15, 2010) – One of Gus’ biggest oppositions to Obamacare has been that it will raise health care costs, especially for seniors. Now, here’s more proof that, unfortunately, that will be the case.
Politico writes: “A Medicare official concedes that seniors may have to dig deeper into their wallets next year thanks to the health care law. … Richard Foster, the actuary for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, also tells Senate Republicans that the overhaul will result in ‘less generous benefit packages’ for Medicare Advantage plans next year. Foster is independent from the administration and non-partisan.”
Some seniors are not going to be able to keep their health care plans, something President Obama promised over and over again. Raising costs for seniors is not the kind of health care overhaul this country needs, and is another reason we need to repeal Obamacare and start over with more sensible solutions.
Instead of Obamacare, we should focus on expanding community health centers, which increase access to affordable primary and preventive care, strengthening association health plans to improve the buying power of employers, and enacting medical liability reform. We also should encourage preventative care, reform long-term care, and eliminate the waste and fraud in federal health programs.
