WASHINGTON, DC (September 28, 2010) – Multiple memos from the Obama administration have shed light on plans for addressing illegal immigration. Most of these plans involve some kind of amnesty program or incentive for immigrants to be in this country illegally.
Americans clearly understand this, and they want their states to take action to secure our borders and discourage illegal immigration.
A Rasmussen Reports finds that 62 percent of Americans surveyed believe the federal government’s policies and practices encourage people to enter the United States illegally, up six points from October of last year. Sixty-three percent of those surveyed also favor passage of an immigration law like Arizona’s in their own state. (Read the report here)
Gus believes we should not give amnesty or any other reward to those who have broken our nation’s immigration laws because doing so simply encourages continued lawbreaking and greater illegal immigration in the future. Effective immigration control requires stronger border enforcement and programs that will keep our country safe.
