American River Watershed (Common Features) project, California (project modification)
Non-Federal Sponsor:  Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency (SAFCA)

Description of Project:  Modify Fed project to construct & modified earthen levees & associated structures & work at Natomas Basin to provide 200-year flood protection.  

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing flood damage reduction with the Army Corps of Engineers.


 

Folsom / Regional Conjunctive Use Project
Non-Federal Sponsor:  City of Folsom
$300,000

Description of Project: Analyze feasibility/reliability of managing aquifers to recharge surplus surface water during wet years and extract stored water in dry years.

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing water supply with the Army Corps of Engineers.

 


Storm Water Facility for Redevelopment Opportunities

Non-Federal Sponsor:  City of Rancho Cordova
$3,500,000

Description of Project:  Property in heart of Rancho Cordova not developable due to storm water retention. To develop, need 250,000 gallons of underground water storage.

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing environmental infrastructure with Army Corps of Engineers to provide.

Description of Project:  Reposition 60 acre commercial center in heart of City requiring more water supply for fire protection.

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing water supply with the Army Corps of Engineers.

Non-Federal Sponsor:  Calaveras County Water District
$30,000,000

Description of Project:  Calaveras County construction of water supply to mitigate loss of failing wells & habitat in critically overdraft Eastern San Joaquin Groundwater Basin.

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing water supply with the Army Corps of Engineers.
 

 

Upgrade of Levees in San Francisco Bay-Delta to Corps Standards (PL 84-99)
Non-Federal Sponsor:  5 Delta Counties Coalition
$100,000,000

Description of Project: Upgrade levees in San Francisco Bay-Delta to Corps standards to protect water supply, environment, communities, agriculture, and the economy.

This project represents an appropriate use of taxpayer funds by providing flood damage reduction with the Army Corps of Engineers.

Description of Project:  Statutory Language to establish the CA Central Valley Flood Protection & Water Resource Development Program to adopt a regional approach to allow crediting & reimbursement for federal flood control, water resources, development and ecosystem restoration projects affecting CA’s Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley,  The Program would not authorize any new projects, but would allow a regional approach to crediting and reimbursement for non-federal work on projects within the Sacramento-San Joaquin Valley.
 

 

Yuba River Basin Flood Damage Reduction Project
Non-Federal Sponsor:  CA Dpt of Water Resources
Cost Unknown:  Amount will be determined upon completion of the Chief’s Report, which is scheduled to be completed on November 2010.

Description of Project:  Reauthorization of project necessary to activate Corps Sec 104 credits by DWR & local agencies during advanced construction of project features.
