Alexander Announces USDA Funding for Delhi

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-Quitman, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development will award a Rural Business Enterprise Grant totaling $175,000 to the Town of Delhi.
The Rural Development funds will be used for the construction and renovation of existing sidewalks as part of a downtown revitalization project to facilitate small business development. According to the project selection notice, this project is located in a disaster declared area as a result of Hurricane Gustav, special emphasis and Lower Mississippi Delta Development Initiative areas. It is expected to save 262 jobs.
“I applaud the USDA Rural Development for awarding these important funds to Delhi,” said Alexander.
“This funding will revitalize the local economy by preserving jobs and attracting businesses. In this hard economic climate, I am glad to see such a worthy project receive the jump-start it deserves.”
