INCOMING APPROPRIATIONS CHAIRMAN HAL ROGERS ANNOUNCES FIRST WAVE OF COMMITTEE STAFF HIRES

December 17th, 2010 - -

Incoming Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers Announces Committee Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Incoming House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers today announced the first wave of Appropriations Committee staff hires for the 112th Congress.

“The Appropriations Committee will have a huge job ahead to drastically cut government spending, stop our exploding deficit, root out waste and unnecessary funding, and get our nation onto a responsible budget path. These staffers are highly qualified and dedicated individuals, and the Committee, the Congress, and the American people will be well served by having them aboard,” Rogers said.

Bill Inglee will join the Appropriations Committee as Chief Clerk/Staff Director. Inglee previously served in the House of Representatives as staff to Reps. Broomfield and Hyde on the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Reps. Livingston and Callahan on the Appropriations Committee. Inglee also served as national security policy advisor to Speaker Hastert where he was a key staff participant in successful negotiations on the Mexico City policy language. Most recently, Inglee retired from Lockheed Martin where he worked as Vice President for Global Security Policy.

Will Smith will join the Appropriations Committee as Deputy Staff Director. Smith comes to the Committee from the personal office of Rep. Rogers where he served for twelve years, mostly recently as Chief of Staff. Previously, Smith served in the office of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell for four years in a variety of capacities, and as a member of the professional staff of the Senate Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee.

Stephen Sepp will continue on the Committee staff covering budget tracking and analysis.

Jennifer Hing will continue on the Committee staff as Communications Director.

Jeff Shockey, current Committee Staff Director, has also been asked to stay on the Committee staff to help facilitate the transition to the next Congress. Rep. Rogers is deeply appreciative that Shockey will remain on staff in the short term, before he leaves to pursue other opportunities.
