Helpful Information for Hurricane Isaac

Aug 27, 2012

In the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac, it is vital that we provide assistance for those most impacted.  Access to front-line agencies must be preserved in this endeavor.

My Baton Rouge office is available to assist those who experience problems with FEMA, the National Flood Insurance Program and other agencies. On FEMA, if you need to file an Individual Assistance claim with them, you should first call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).  FEMA specialists will walk you through the claims process.  Residents in 16 parishes are currently eligible for such assistance, including Ascension, Livingston and St. Helena in the Sixth Congressional District.  You can also learn more at www.disasterassistance.gov.  Please contact my office if you experience difficulties with this process.

You should also monitor the FEMA twitter feed for up-to-date information on the storm's aftermath and the Governor’s Office for Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for further information.  More links and phone numbers to help you recover from the storm are also below

A list of statewide aid distribution points managed by GOHSEP and the Louisiana National Guard are below.  A list of parish homeland security office phone numbers in the Sixth Congressional District can be utilized in case of an emergency.  Finally, the hurricane preparedness checklist at the end of this page can help you prepare for the next storm.

Finally, I am committed to doing my part.  My Baton Rouge office can be reached at (225) 929-7711.  Please call if you need any information or assistance.  Together, we will persevere through Isaac and other hurricanes that impact Louisiana.  God bless you and your family.
