November 9, 2012— Today, Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson released the following statement in advance of Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11, 2012.
“This Sunday may be my last Veterans Day as a Senator, but it is not going to be my last observance of Veterans Day.
“As Americans we recognize the courage and service that our military men and women exhibit on a daily basis.
“But it takes more than just a ceremony and a few moments of silence to fully honor our veterans who assure our freedom, justice and liberty.
“We have a commitment that must be honored to care for those who have borne the battle, which is why I fought hard for a national veterans cemetery in the Omaha area and for improvements at the VA Medical Center.
“As a private citizen I will continue doing what I can to take care of our veterans. That promise doesn’t end as my term in office ends. Like yours, it is a lifelong commitment.”
Senator Nelson will speak during the Veterans Day observance Sunday, November 11, 2012, at 11am CT at Memorial Park in Omaha.
