House Emphatically Affirms Bicameral, Bipartisan Commitment to Unregulated Internet

WASHINGTON, DC – As nations across the globe convene in Dubai to consider proposals to regulate the Internet, the U.S. House of Representatives today re-affirmed its commitment to an unregulated Internet that fosters innovation and freedom. The Energy and Commerce Committee has been at the forefront of efforts to preserve the Internet, discussing the implications with officials from the State Department, FCC, Internet companies, and public interest groups and ushering through the House earlier this year a nearly identical resolution sponsored by Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA).

Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-OR) and incoming Committee Vice-Chair Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) today expressed their support for S.Con.Res.50, a concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress to preserve and advance the multi-stakeholder governance model under which the Internet has thrived. The House overwhelmingly approved S.Con.Res50 by a vote of 397 to 0.
