Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Alto Pass Volunteer Fire Department has received a $203,329 Assistance to Firefighters grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds will be used to purchase a firefighting vehicle. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
"Improving the equipment and resources of our local fire departments is one of the most important things we can do to enhance public safety," said Costello. "Our first responders put their lives on the line everyday, and this dedication deserves our full support."
