Belleville, IL - On Saturday, January 28, 2006, U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello was awarded the Realtor Association of Southwestern Illinois' Good Government Award for his support for "residential and commercial growth and" as one who also promotes "the interests of private property owners in metro east communities."
Costello was recognized by the Realtor's Association for his efforts to keep Scott Air Force Base from closing under the most recent Base Realignment and Closure Commission round and for securing funding for several area transportation projects, such as the construction of the new Mississippi River Bridge, the expansion of Frank Scott Parkway, and the creation of Metro Link throughout St. Clair County. The award was presented during the Realtor's Association Annual Dinner held in Fairview Heights, Illinois.
