Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $148,871 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. The funds will be used for research in understanding compound phase transitions in new heusler alloy colossal magnetocaloric materials.
"SIUC continues to be a leader in many research fields," Costello said. "Grants such as this will help the university meet the goals of the 'Southern at 150' plan."
