Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems, located in Marion, has received a $25,397,620 contract from the Navy to produce 25MM linked cartridges. The 25MM cartridge linked configuration is fired from the MK38 deck-mounted Gun Weapon System, which utilizes the M242 25MM chain gun onboard Navy and Coast Guard ships and patrol boats. The work will be performed in Marion and is expected to be completed by March 2011.
"I am pleased that area employees will perform this work," said Costello. "These contracts are vital to our national security as well as the regional economy and provide the best possible equipment for our men and women in combat."
