Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the House of Representatives has approved funding for water projects in the 12th Congressional District as part of the Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill for fiscal year 2007. The legislation will next be considered by the Senate.
"These projects will help protect our communities while restoring habitats and improving our infrastructure," said Costello. "This is critical work for the economy of our region and I will work to ensure that this funding stays in the final version of the bill."

In addition, fossil energy research and development programs received $558 million, including $54 million for FutureGen and $36.4 million for the Clean Coal Power Initiative.
