SHAWNEE DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL RECEIVES HUD GRANT

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Shawnee Development Council, Inc., has received a $300,000 Rural Housing and Economic Development Program grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.  The funds will be used to create local housing and economic development opportunities. 

"Maintaining a supply of quality, affordable housing is becoming increasingly hard to do," Costello said.  "HUD funds help leverage state and local dollars to improve public housing opportunities.  This is a critical need and I will continue to support these efforts."
