Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the METRO transit system has received $1,154,920 in intercity transit security grants for fiscal year 2006 by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Of that total, $486,603 is for rail security and $668,317 for intercity bus security.
"We must continually address the security needs of our major transportation networks," said Costello. "Maintaining a high level of security takes cooperation at all levels of government, and I will continue to support these efforts."
