COSTELLO STATEMENT ON POSHARD INAUGURATION
AS PRESIDENT OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY

Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) issued the following statement concerning today's inauguration of Dr. Glenn Poshard as Southern Illinois University's seventh president:

"This is a great day for Glenn and an even greater day for Southern Illinois University.  Rarely is a person so uniquely qualified for a position; every step of Glenn's education and career has prepared him to guide this university.  He cares so deeply for this institution and the entire SIU community will benefit from his depth of experience.  I look forward to continuing a long working relationship with Glenn and the university."
