BART Silicon Valley Project, San Jose, CA - This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will support the regional economy; enhance regional connectivity and mobility; alleviate traffic congestion; accommodate future travel demand; improve access to employment, education, medical, and retail centers; and maximize public transit usage. The people of the County of Santa Clara have repeatedly supported local tax measures to pay for the extension of the BART line into their county. Local and state funding make up a significant majority of the funding for the whole project.

    San Tomas Expressway Widening Project, San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA - This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will increase the capacity of San Tomas Expressway from 6 to 8 lanes (while maintaining the current HOV lane to support transit use and carpooling), reducing congestion and supporting economic growth in Silicon Valley that directly affects the health of our nation’s economy.

      Underwood Neighborhood Revitalization in San Jose, CA - This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because, in conjunction with Project Alliance and the City of San Jose’s Strong Neighborhoods Initiative, it will assist with revitalization in the Underwood Neighborhood, a badly dilapidated neighborhood in a heavily urbanized area of San Jose, which will improve residential quality of life and deter crime.

          Veterans Transitional Housing in San Jose, CA - This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will rehabilitate part of Santa Clara County’s only One-Stop homeless service center with transitional housing for homeless veterans by installing a residential elevator for disabled veterans and purchasing a generator for the complex, thereby expanding access to services to more veterans.

              YWCA Silicon Valley Domestic Violence Center in San Jose, CA - This is project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds because it will update, renovate, and expand capacity in the YWCA Silicon Valley Domestic Violence Center shelter that houses victims in immediate danger from domestic violence and the Emergency Shelter Resource Center that contains the food pantry, counseling rooms, and case management offices, allowing more people to have access to these vital services.
