Washington, D.C., Feb 6 -

Today, Representative Lucille Roybal-Allard announced that 319,429 California residents with Medicare saved $171,983,735 on their prescription drugs in 2011 thanks to the Affordable Care Act. The data, released by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), demonstrated that the Affordable Care Act is helping seniors across the state afford prescription drugs when they hit the donut hole.

“This is great news and evidence that the Affordable Care Act is doing what it is supposed to do—save people money!” said Congresswoman Roybal-Allard. “As we continue to move forward and close the donut hole, seniors will continue to save money and prescription drugs will become more affordable,” Roybal-Allard added.

The latest data from HHS reports that the average person with Medicare will save nearly $4,200 in medical expenses by 2021, due to the Affordable Care Act.
