Firefighters battle blaze in Tonto National Forest

Firefighters Sunday were battling a 100-acre blaze burning twomiles from the Tonto Fish Hatchery in the Big Canyon area of the Tonto National Forest, officials said Sunday. The "Big Canyon Fire" was reported about 10:30 a.m. Sunday about 14 miles east of Payson in a rough and remote area of the forest, according to David Albo, Tonto National Forest spokesman.

All comments made will be sent to the EPA before the September 15 deadline for public comment.
