On Wednesday, November 28, 2012, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 5788, under a suspension of the rules requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  H.R. 5788 was introduced by Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA) on May 16, 2012, and was referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which reported the bill by unanimous consent on June 27, 2012. 

H.R. 5788 would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 103 Center Street West in Eatonville, Washington, as the “National Park Ranger Margaret Anderson Post Office.”

On New Year’s Day 2012, Ranger Anderson became the first female park ranger killed in the line of duty.  That day, she was establishing a road block when a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting the previous day, opened gunfire on her.  Before she passed away from a fatal gunshot wound, she radioed for help which allowed responding units to take action.  She served with the National Park Service for 11 years and leaves behind her husband and two daughters, ages 4 and 2, in their hometown of Eatonville, Washington.
