On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, the House is expected to consider H.R. 5843, a bill to amend the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to permit use of certain grant funds for training conducted in conjunction with a national laboratory or research facility, under a suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for approval. H.R. 5843 would broaden grant eligibility under the Department of Homeland Security’s Grants to States and High-Risk Urban Areas program to include training conducted with a national laboratory or research facility.
The Grants to States and High-Risk Urban Areas program provides money for preventing, preparing for, protecting against, and responding to possible acts of terrorism.
