Thompson to Introduce All Children are Equal (ACE) Act

Jul 8, 2011

Washington, D.C. – Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (R-PA) and Representative G. K. Butterfield (D-NC) on Tuesday, July 12th at 11:15 A.M. will hold a press conference to discuss the introduction of H.R. 2485, the All Children are Equal (ACE) Act.

The ACE Act reforms Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, which provides funds to local school districts to improve the education of disadvantaged students. Currently, the formula has the perverse effect of diverting funding from higher-poverty school districts to lower-poverty school districts. The ACE Act has the support of a diverse range of advocacy groups, which have rallied behind Thompson’s efforts to ensure that all Title I eligible students receive equal treatment under the law.
