Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) today voted to repeal the unlimited funding provided under the ObamaCare health care law to provide grants to states for various activities related to health insurance exchanges. The legislation, H.R. 1213, will save taxpayers more than $14 billion by 2021.  This funding was provided without Congressional oversight to the Secretary of Health and Human Services to use at their discretion.  Repeal of this slush fund passed by a vote of 238  to 183.                                                          

"At a time of record deficits, it was wrong to force a mandatory, costly and heavy handed government run health care program on the American taxpayer," Olson said.  "Today’s vote to repeal the mandatory spending forced on us by ObamaCare is just one of many steps we are taking to restore sanity and fiscal discipline to the federal budget. This funding was approved last year with no oversight and no limits on how the Obama administration could spend it.  That's wrong and I'm pleased we passed this common sense measure to stop this unrestricted tap into the federal treasury."
