Blackburn Votes To Find Attorney General Holder In Contempt Of Congress

Washington, Jun 28 - Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) today issued the following statement on her vote in support of the House resolution to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress:

“Government officials, whether elected or appointed, take an oath to uphold the Constitution and to serve and protect the people of this nation. It is imperative that these officials be held accountable for the decisions they make. Brian Terry’s tragic death was the result of a government operation that went horribly wrong. The American people and Brian Terry’s family deserve to have all the facts surrounding the Fast and Furious controversy. Yet, Attorney General Holder continues to stonewall Congress, change his story, and hide behind executive privilege.

“At its most basic level, this investigation is about trust and integrity. How could the Department of Justice allow these guns to walk unchecked? Until we have all the answers and full confidence that families of other border patrol agents won’t go through what Brian Terry’s family is facing, we must continue to seek the truth about this tragedy.”
