  • The 13th Congressional District & Map

Ohio's 13th Congressional District truly is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Congresswoman Sutton has lived most of her life in and around the communities that make up much of the district, and she is proud to represent the people and places she knows and loves so much.

Originally nicknamed the “Turnpike District”, the 13th Congressional District’s unique shape traces across the shoreline of Lake Erie in Lorain County, captures the “Emerald Necklace” of the Cleveland MetroParks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and extends south to include the Portage Lakes State Park in Summit County. The 13th Congressional District is also home to institutions of higher learning such as Lorain County Community College and The University of Akron.

The 13th Congressional District stretches across four of Northeast Ohio’s most populous counties, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit, and it includes all or some of over thirty communities.

Congresswoman Betty Sutton Announces $62,500 Grant to Advance Ohio High Speed Rail Corridor

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Betty Sutton (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the Ohio Rail Development Commission a $62,500 Planning and Alternative Analysis grant for the Amtrak/Ohio HUB Cleveland-Columbus-Dayton-Cincinnati (3-C) high speed corridor. This grant will provide critical funding for the development stage of this project, which will bring Amtrak start-up service and high-performance passenger rail service to metropolitan centers throughout Ohio. Last September, Congresswoman Sutton led members of the Ohio Delegation in sending a letter to the Federal Railroad Administration in support of this project.

"This high speed rail corridor will bring 110-mph passenger trains to the 11 million people of Ohio, greatly improving transportation options in the state. Not only will this benefit local residents, but it will help bridge travel and commerce markets, encouraging others to come to our state for business and leisure. I am pleased that funding has been secured for this project," said Congresswoman Sutton.

Matt Dietrich, Executive Director of the Ohio Rail Development Commission said: "I would like to thank the US Department of Transportation Secretary and the Ohio Congressional Delegation for their help in securing these funds to help bridge the long-range gap between our Ohio Hub efforts and our short-term work with Amtrak on the 3-C Corridor."
