District Map

  • The 13th Congressional District & Map

Ohio's 13th Congressional District truly is a great place to live, raise a family and do business. Congresswoman Sutton has lived most of her life in and around the communities that make up much of the district, and she is proud to represent the people and places she knows and loves so much.

Originally nicknamed the “Turnpike District”, the 13th Congressional District’s unique shape traces across the shoreline of Lake Erie in Lorain County, captures the “Emerald Necklace” of the Cleveland MetroParks and the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and extends south to include the Portage Lakes State Park in Summit County. The 13th Congressional District is also home to institutions of higher learning such as Lorain County Community College and The University of Akron.

The 13th Congressional District stretches across four of Northeast Ohio’s most populous counties, Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, and Summit, and it includes all or some of over thirty communities.

Production at U.S. GM Plants Will Increase

Over 1,000 People Will Return to Work in Lordstown, Ohio

August 18, 2009

Dear Representative Sutton:

It's been a while since any of us had good news, which is why I am pleased to share that today General Motors Company announced it will begin increasing production at several of its U.S. assembly plants, including Lordstown, Hamtramck, Orion, Lansing Delta Township, Spring Hill, Fort Wayne and Shreveport.  In total, approximately 60,000 vehicles will be added to the fourth quarter production to ensure a wide selection of high-quality, fuel efficient cars, crossovers and trucks for customers.

To help meet the increased demand, GM is adding an entire shift at the Lordstown, Ohio plant that builds the fuel-efficient Chevy Cobalt and future Chevy Cruze model.  The additional shift will result in the recall of 1,000 hourly employees and 50 salaried.  Other products that have experienced increase market demand include the Chevy Equinox, HHR and Colorado as well as the GMC Canyon.  If you consider our great new products like the Chevy Camaro, Cadillac SRX and CTS Wagon and the Buick LaCrosse we anticipate the need to increase production at our plants will continue.

In July and August, the popular "Cash for Clunkers" program generated substantial demand for a broad range of fuel efficient vehicles within GM -- including the Chevy Cobalt, HHR, Malibu, Equinox and Colorado.  This latest round of production increases will go a long way in rebuilding dealer inventories to help us meet strong consumer demand.

As Members who represent GM's plant cities and those who supported the "Cash for Clunkers" initiative your leadership is helping get the economy moving again and giving the men and woman of GM an opportunity to do what we do best - build great cars and trucks that Americans want.

Thank you for your continued support.  As always, if you have any questions or want to learn more about how we're changing GM with a focus on customers, cars and culture, please contact the GM Policy office here in D.C. at 202-775-5015.

Sincerely,

Ken W. Cole
