Gainey Retires After 33 Years, Top NCO Post
U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. William J. Gainey, senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and his wife Cindy render honors during the playing of the national anthem at Gainey's retirement ceremony, Fort Myer, Arlington, Va., April 25, 2008. JCOC Participants Visit Cartagena, Colombia
Participants of the 75th Joint Civilian Orientation Conference greet Colombian military naval officials during a cultural visit to Cartagena, Colombia, April 23, 2008. Sponsored by the Secretary of Defense, JCOC is reserved for American leaders interested in expanding their knowledge of the military and national defense. JCOC 75 participants will visit five countries, three forward operating locations, two naval bases and a Navy carrier in U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility from April 18-26. JCOC participants attend briefings by senior military and civilian officials followed by hands-on experience observing exercises and participating in training. They also interact with troops engaged in U.S. commercial, diplomatic, humanitarian and military interests around the globe.
