To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 6310 North University Street in Peoria, Illinois, as the "Charles ''Chip'' Lawrence Chan Post Office Building."

On Tuesday, July 26, 2011, the House is scheduled to consider H.R. 2548 under a suspension of the rules, requiring a two-thirds majority vote for passage.  H.R. 2548 was introduced by Rep. Aaron Schock (R-IL) on July 14, 2011, and was referred to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.

This bill would designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 6310 North University Street in Peoria, Illinois, as the "Charles 'Chip' Lawrence Chan Post Office Building."

Charles “Chip” Chan, a Peoria, Illinois native and University of Illinois graduate, was killed on September 11, 2001 when terrorists struck the World Trade Center.  At the time, he was employed as a currency trader at Cantor Fitzgerald, working on the 105^th floor of the North Tower.  Mr. Chan was 23 years old.

According to CBO, any costs related to new post office designations, which include the cost of changing the name on the building, signs, and maps, are not significant.
