On April 17, my colleagues and I introduced immigration legislation. It marked a first step toward achieving the strongest border security and enforcement measures in U.S. history, modernizing our legal immigration system to unleash strong economic growth and job creation, and dealing with our undocumented immigrant population in a tough, but fair way that is directly linked to achieving several security triggers.
While I believe this legislation will accomplish these things, I am also confident that an open and transparent process – one that engages every senator and the American people – will make it even better. I believe this kind of open debate is critical in helping the American people understand what’s in the bill, what it means for you and what it means for our future.
During my time in the Senate, many of you have written to me about your concerns with our immigration system. Today, I want to share this video with you in which I outline what this legislation sets out to do. And most importantly, I want to invite you to share your thoughts and submit your ideas below, on ways we can improve it.

Respected Senator,
What about legal non immigrants who are on temporary visas and are high earners due to their field of work? For eg- Doctors on H-1B visa work who are top earners and hence top tax payers. Would it not make sense to give them a green card or citizenship so that they can continue working- pay taxes, improve local economy and help this country. It makes no sense to have people like this making a lot money but having to wait 10 years to get a green card. Thanks for your time -

We the people of America have some grave problems with the federal government doing anything efficiently.
Why don't you try and do one thing right such as putting a system in place that tracks people here on visas.i have heard that forty per cent of illegals are visa overstays.Once that is in place and working and overstayers are no longer a problem then move to another step.
You don't eat all of the pie all at once just a piece at a time.
Look at the bungling in all of the gov't agencies.We need less federal gov't not more.
Eliminating several. dept.'s such as Education,Energy,EPA,HHS would be a good start. -

I am emailing you to request an amendment to the proposed immigration reform bill S744. The amendment request is to REMOVE the 5 year cutoff on STEM graduate degree on page 305 line 10 of Immigration bill S744. Alternatively, this cutoff should be changed to 10 years.

Text of bill Page 305: "(III) earned the qualifying graduate degree within the 5 years immediately prior to the initial filing date of the petition under which the non-immigrant is a beneficiary."

Main idea behind this proposal is to reduce "legal high skilled" immigration backlogs, but most back logged STEM graduates have earned their degree more than 5 years ago when they filed for immigrant visa. The current language seems to propose as if a degree earned more than 5 years ago from US institution has no value....Doesn't make sense.

So, I humbly request you to propose an amendment to have the 5 year cutoff clause removed completely, or alternatively change it to 10 years. I have been following law and living legally in the country for 8 years now, and such limitations only discourage being legal and following the law.

When I am wrong I admit it...I had a glitch in my system ? I guess and did not see the posts I had previously made in regards to this monstrosity of an Amnesty bill you and the criminal 8 are shoving down our throats( much like the disastrous "O" deathcare that was shoved down our throats that was and still is a BIG FAT LIE!YOU KNOW IT!). You say you are for our children YET???? you fall in step with the elites in this gov at every turn...do you really think you will preserve your loved ones by selling your soul? He who seeks to save his life will lose it ...so the BIBLE tells me... what do you think? I just want PEACE and a gov that believes in telling and distributing TRUTH to "WE THE PEOPLE" I pray that you will reconsider your choices... as I feel time is short for us ALL...PLEASE err on the side of TRUTH! Even in the face of ....WELL... you know better than I do what they have planned for us?
