Veterans' Advisory Council
Upon returning to Congress in January of 2011, Congressman Pearce created a Veterans' Advisory Council to ensure the needs of New Mexican veterans were being addressed.
The Council is comprised of veterans from throughout New Mexico’s Second Congressional District. Split into five regions, the Council is led by an Executive Committee, which is made up of one veteran from each region. The geographical breakdown ensures that voices of veterans from every corner of the district are heard. The Executive Committee meets once a month to update and advise Congressman Pearce on the concerns, successes and ongoing struggles in each region.
The creation of the Veterans' Advisory Council has been praised by veteran’s groups from across the nation. In the Council’s first two years, it has held eight town hall meetings with the Albuquerque and El Paso Veterans Affairs Medical Centers. Congressman Pearce, a decorated Vietnam veteran, looks forward to continue to work with the Council and making veterans’ issues a top priority in Congress.
