Apr 29, 2014

Ranking Member Henry A. Waxman today announced the departure of his long-time energy and environment staff director, Greg Dotson, and the promotion of Jeff Baran and Alexandra Teitz to senior leadership positions on the Democratic staff of the Energy and Commerce Committee.

Greg Dotson is leaving Rep. Waxman’s staff after serving for 18 years as his top energy and environment advisor to become the Vice President for Energy Policy at the Center for American Progress.

“I am deeply indebted to Greg for his many years of wise counsel, creative thinking, and dedication to environmental protection.  His efforts have made our air cleaner and our water safer to drink,” said Rep. Waxman.  “Greg has played a leading role on climate change and clean energy legislation in the Congress, and I know he will continue to make an enormous contribution on these issues from his new position at CAP.”

Jeff Baran will become the Democratic Staff Director for Energy and Environment.  “Jeff has years of experience working on energy efficiency, renewable energy, climate change, nuclear power, and other issues,” said Rep. Waxman.  “He’s a superb lawyer and outstanding leader.”

Alexandra Teitz will become the Chief Counsel for Energy and the Environment.  “Alexandra is a brilliant Clean Air Act lawyer,” said Rep. Waxman.  “Her judgment and legal expertise will be invaluable in shaping the Democratic agenda on energy and the environment.”
