Caring for Our Nation’s Heroes
We must honor the service of all of our men and women in uniform, remember those who perished at war, and celebrate the courage of those who come home. In Congress, our work is founded on a solemn promise: just as the military pledges to leave no soldier behind on the battlefield, we will leave no veteran behind when they return home.
Below is a piece I wrote that appeared in USA TODAY on the Supreme Court’s oral arguments this week on two cases regarding discrimination against our nation’s LGBT community.
Preventing Gun Violence
No words can comfort and console the loved ones brutally taken from us in Newtown, Aurora, Tucson, and other senseless tragedies. While we continue to pray for the families and honor the memories of those lost, here in Congress, what we need now are less words and more action.
Sending our Prayers and Support to the Newtown Community
No words can console the parents of the children murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School or describe the pain and shock of such an unspeakable tragedy. No words can comfort the loved ones of those brutally taken from us today. All Americans share our prayers and our grief over these horrifying events.
