Fighting For The Lower Hudson Valley

I have been hard at work in Congress fighting for economic growth, safe communities, and support for our veterans in the Lower Hudson Valley.

I fought for and secured a historic $1.6 billion loan for the new Tappan Zee Bridge, which will support the small businesses that are catalysts for economic growth and job creation in our region.  In addition, we must pass the Paycheck Fairness Act to give women equal pay for equal work.

To make a college education more affordable, I co-sponsored a bill that would allow borrowers the opportunity to refinance their student loan debt at the same low rate offered to new borrowers, and I’m pushing to pass bills to keep our communities safe from senseless gun violence and to help stem heroin epidemic that is gripping our communities.

As the Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Committee, I shepherded a $158 billion Veterans Affairs bill through the House of Representatives, which will take steps to reduce the veterans’ claims backlog, enhance primary care for women veterans, increase funding for the Veterans Administration (VA) health care system, and bolster veteran job transition and placement programs.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact my office in Westchester County at (914) 428-1707, Rockland County at (845) 639-3485, or Washington, D.C. at (202) 225-6506, and we will do all we can to help.

Sincerely,
