Rokita Stands with Israel, Condemns Recent Acts of Terror Against Israel 

Washington, DC – Today U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita stood with one of America’s closest allies, Israel, as they combat a surge of terrorist violence against their country from the terrorist group Hamas.

“I am deeply concerned by and condemn the over 400 recent rocket attacks that have been launched by the terrorist group Hamas against one of our country’s closest allies, Israel.  My thoughts and prayers are with our friends as they confront the damage caused by these attacks.  I will continue leading efforts to ensure the long-term security of Israel.”

The State of Israel has proven time and again it is a willing, and waiting, partner in the struggle for peace in the region.  Unfortunately, terrorist organizations like Hamas have continued to wage war against Israel, despite their continued patience.  Even as recently as July 3, following the first wave of attacks, Israel had proposed a cease fire with Hamas, but instead were met with a dramatic increase in rocket attacks on July 7.  Since June 14, Israel has endured over 400 rocket attacks.

As any sovereign nation has the right to, Israel Defense Forces launched military operations to target over 150 terrorist sites in the Gaza Strip.   Rep. Rokita supports Israel’s efforts to defend herself and will work to continue America’s support for its ally, Israel.
