Congressman Connolly knows that the success of Northern Virginia's economy is directly tied to the achievement of students in our local classrooms and college campuses. As a parent, Congressman Connolly believes that investing in quality early childhood, public education, and college access programs will spur innovation and set our young people on a path for lifelong success.

During his tenure as Chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, he helped increase funding for local schools by more than 30%.

He voted for the Recovery Act, which provided $170 million to schools in Fairfax and Prince William, saving more than 825 teaching positions and creating 50 new classroom jobs. The Recovery Act also expanded Head Start opportunities for local children.

He has supported increased funding for STEM education

He supported the 21st Century Green Schools Act, which would have provided millions of dollars to local schools for energy efficiency upgrades and created new construction jobs in the community.

More than 10,500 students in the 11th District are benefiting from higher Pell Grants awards thanks to passage of the Student Aid and Financial Responsibility Act, and more families are able to afford college with the assistance of $2,500 annual college tuition tax credit, which Congressman Connolly voted to extend.
