Congressman Bill Cassidy

Representing the 6th District of LOUISIANA

Military Academy Nominations

I nominate students from Louisiana's Sixth Congressional District to America's Service Academies every year.  The cadets and midshipmen at these Academies will be responsible for our nation's defense.  Therefore, I view the nominations process as one of my most important responsibilities.  The Academies are as follows:

U.S. Military Academy (West Point, New York)

U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, Maryland)

U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Colorado)

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, New York)

U.S. Coast Guard Academy (New London, Connecticut)

You must receive a nomination to attend one of the first four Academies.  To apply for one of my nominations, please download this application and its Frequently Asked Questions section.  Nomination packets are due to my Baton Rouge office by November 7, 2014.  You will then be interviewed by my Service Academy Review Board.  The board is comprised of Academy graduates, veterans and community leaders in our District.  Although the final decision on nominations is mine, I will rely heavily on the board's recommendations.  Please note that receiving a nomination does not guarantee admittance to a Service Academy.  It only means you will be considered by them for admittance.

You and your parents are also invited to my annual Service Academy Day.  It will be held from 9:00 A.M. to Noon on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Louisiana State Museum in Baton Rouge.  The museum is located at 660 North Fourth Street and is close to the New State Capitol grounds.  Registration will begin at 8:30 A.M.  Please monitor this webpage for that information.

The opportunities offered by America's Service Academies are tremendous.  You can receive a first-class education and a leadership role in our nation's military.  I strongly recommend that you consider applying to attend a Service Academy.  Please call my Baton Rouge office if you have any questions.
