Rep. Joe Heck Statement on Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel's Resignation

Congressman Joe Heck (NV-03) today released the following statement on the resignation of Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. Rep. Heck sits on the House Armed Services Committee where he serves as Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee.

"Chuck Hagel's record of service to our county as a Vietnam War veteran, United States Senator, and Secretary of Defense is to be commended. I thank him for his service and for the job he did as Secretary of Defense under extremely difficult circumstances. Secretary Hagel's considerable experience gave him credibility when voicing opinions about the tough choices we must be willing to make to ensure our Department of Defense has the resources needed to fulfill the mission of defending our nation, supporting our allies, and projecting strength around the world. Unfortunately, those opinions were not welcome in an Administration more concerned with polling and politics than effective policy. I wish the Secretary well in his future endeavors."
