Orange City Pastor Selected as Guest Chaplain of U.S. House of Representatives

Washington, DC – Pastor John Reynolds of the Volusia County Baptist Church (VCBC) has been chosen to be the Guest Chaplain for the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday, July 24.  Pastor Reynolds, who was sponsored by Congressman John L. Mica (Winter Park, FL), will offer the opening prayer of that day's session at noon.

"Having Pastor Reynolds, who has been a great leader in our community, is a privilege and a special honor," Mica said.  "The House's Guest Chaplain Program provides an opportunity for representatives of diverse faiths throughout our country to lead Congress in prayer."

Dr. Reynolds moved to Orange City, Florida in 1996 to establish VCBC and has been a pillar of the local community ever since.  The congregation includes 1,500 members and supports the work of 800 missionaries worldwide.  In addition to the pastor’s responsibilities at home, Dr. Reynolds has preached at conferences across the nation and overseas.

The prayers are offered in the House Chamber at the opening of each daily session and precede regular House business.  The invocation, scheduled for noon on Wednesday, can be viewed live on C-SPAN and at www.c-span.org.
