Small businesses are the backbone of the American economy and the main source of new job creation. That is why Paul believes our small businesses should be promoted. He often visits local small businesses in the Capital Region to tour their facilities, speak with employees, and listen to their concerns. He supports policies that encourage lending to small businesses, especially from community banks who know their needs and businesses so well.

  • Tonko Statement on Social Security COLA

    ALBANY – Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) today slammed an announcement from the Social Security Administration (SSA) that the annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) for more than 70 million Social Security beneficiaries – most of them senior citizens – would be a meager 1.7 percent. The announcement marks the third consecutive year in which the increase was less than 2 percent.
