Transportation Infrastructure
At a time when roads, rails, bridges and highways are crumbling and millions of our nation's construction workers are struggling to find work, Louise believes that investing in our nation's transportation infrastructure should be one of our top priorities. Such investments would not only put millions of Americans back on the job, but would allow our nation to compete with countries like China and Germany in the global economy of the 21st Century.
In addition to rebuilding our roads and airports, Louise strongly supports the development of fast, efficient and affordable rail in Rochester and Western New York. Since 2007, Amtrak ridership to and from Rochester has increased by 89%. As rail travel becomes more efficient and convenient those numbers will only grow.
Finally, Louise has been instrumental in building a new intermodal passenger train station in downtown Rochester. This new station will be ADA compliant, and will connect to Greyhound and Trailways buses, RTS city buses, taxis and other modes of transportation, making train travel easy, accessible and convenient.
