  • Tonko Urges Speaker to Cancel Recess, Cites Large To-Do List for House

    WASHINGTON – Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) joined 42 of his colleagues this week in asking Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to cancel recess, citing an extensive list of tasks left untouched by the House Majority. The U.S. House of Representatives stood in recess for 38 days from August 1 to September 8 and, after only eight days of work, has recessed again until November 12.   • Tonko Announces $1.4 Million for Skidmore

    SARATOGA SPRINGS – Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY) announced today that Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs will receive a research grant in the amount of $1,434,199 from the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA). The award, provided under the Fiscal Year 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, is under the direction of Denise Smith, professor of health and exercise sciences at Skidmore.
