Update: Important new information about tax preparation help for Vermonters

Do you need help preparing your taxes?

Free File is a public-private partnership between the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and commercial tax software companies. Those with incomes of $57,000 or less are eligible to use Free File's easy filing software. And anyone can use Free File’s online fillable forms at no cost. Nearly 36 million Americans have already used Free File, according to the IRS.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax preparation services to Vermonters making under $51,000 per year. The program is a partnership between the IRS and the Chittenden County CASH Coalition, local United Way agencies and Community Action agencies. To find a location near you, click here or dial 2-1-1.
