MacArthur Awards Humanitarian Medals to New Jersey Guard Members
Congressman MacArthur’s office was made aware of a bureaucratic snafu that was prohibiting Guard members from receiving the Humanitarian Service Medal. Ambiguous language in Army qualification guidelines prompted Congressman MacArthur to take the fight all the way up to the Secretary of Defense, who approved the medals the week of the third anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. -
MacArthur Op-ed: FEMA chief should resign, hearings convened
Earlier this month the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General released a report entitled, “FEMA Does Not Provide Adequate Oversight of Its National Flood Insurance Write Your Own Program.” This report summarized a yearlong investigation, prompted by a “60 Minutes” interview in March of 2015, which revealed that thousands of superstorm Sandy victims had been wrongfully denied insurance claims due to corrupt and fraudulent practices. -
