SEEC Statement on EPA Methane Rules

May 12, 2016 Issues: Climate Change, Energy, Environment

Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced final rules to regulate methane–the principle component of natural gas and a potent greenhouse gas–from new, reconstructed and modified sources in the oil and gas industry. SEEC Members released the following statement:

“We applaud the Administration’s most recent step to keep American families safe and healthy by reducing dangerous methane pollution nationwide. Every year millions of tons of methane from oil and gas sources are needlessly released into the air. Today’s announcement will help reduce toxic air pollution, limit future climate damages, and ensure that usable resources are not frivolously wasted.”
