Education
Educating the next generation is a responsibility of parents, teachers, local schools, and the state.
Education should always remain a family, local and state issue – not one left to Washington bureaucrats and politicians. Whether it is No Child Left Behind, Race to the Top, or Common Core, I believe these programs reflect a Washingtonian belief that they know better than the parents, teachers, administration, and school board members in Kansas. Let’s repeal these laws and shift power away from Washington – and return it to where it belongs – back home.
More on Education
On Tuesday, The Separation of Powers Restoration Act, a bill cosponsored by Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01), passed the House. The Separation of Powers Restoration Act (SOPRA) seeks to restore the balance of power among the three branches as the Constitution dictates.
In 1984, the Supreme Court established the Chevron Deference, which gives agencies in the executive branch authority to interpret “ambiguous” laws.
In light of today’s meeting to discuss Kansas’ response to President Obama’s threat to withdraw federal funding for schools that will not compromise the security and privacy of students, Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) sent emails to all ten members of the Kansas Board of Education.
Last week, he sent letters with the same message to the Big First Congressional District’s Superintendents and School Board Presidents, urging them to ignore Obama’s radical agenda.
