Congressional App Challenge

 

SUBMISSSIONS FOR THE 2016 CONGRESSIONAL APP COMPETITION ARE OPEN UNTIL NOVEMBER 2, 2016 . 

 

Rep. Quigley is proud to participate in the 2016 Congressional App Challenge. The Congressional App Challenge is designed to engage student creativity and encourage their participation in STEM education fields. High school students from across the district are encouraged to create and exhibit their software application for mobile, tablet or computer devices on a platform of their choice.

 

Can I Participate?

​The Competition is open only to high school students who reside in Illinois' Fifth District or who are eligible to attend public high school in IL-05. Individuals submitting on behalf of teams must meet the eligibility requirements for individual Contestants.

To Register

To enter, the student register for the House Student App Contest at http://www.congressionalappchallenge.us/compete-2016/sign-up/ and file under their participating Member of Congress’ profile during the Competition Submission Period. All entries must be an original in concept, design and execution.

In 2015, Damian Medina, a senior at Lakeview High School, was the winner of the 2015 Congressional App Challenge for Illinois’ Fifth Congressional District.

Damian’s app, My Vote, is a resource guide for the 2016 presidential election with aggregated information on all of the candidates and their policy positions, where to vote, and how to vote in different localities. Damian's app will be featured on the U.S. House of Representatives’ website as well as on display in a U.S. Capitol exhibit.
