For Zoe, honoring the service by members of our armed forces, the sacrifices our veterans have made, and ensuring our country's commitment to them is a personal matter of the utmost importance.  Below is a list of resources and organizations that provide help and support.

Ø   Give an Hour.Org

The organization’s mission is to develop national networks of volunteers capable of responding to both acute and chronic conditions (particularly meeting the mental health needs of troops and families  affected by the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan). Treatment is offered for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), etc.

Ø  Soldier’s Project

A program started by Judith Broder, M.D. in 2004.  Psychoanalysts provide free care and treatment (counseling) for service men and women and their families.

Ø  OEF/OIF/OND Program with the Department of Veterans Affairs

A special program to meet the specific needs of Veterans returning from Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom(OIF) and Operation New Dawn(OND).  Call the VA Medical Center to make an appointment: 1-(650)-493-5000 or 1-(408)-363-3000 to request a Mental Health Appointment (follow the prompts or wait for an Operator).  www.OEFOIF.va.gov

Veterans (if service-connected) are entitled to up to 5 years of free mental health services.
